Break In, To
  The training of a young horse to accept and respond to a rider on his back.

Breast Collar
  A wide leather band going round a horse's chest in harness, instead of a shaped collar round the neck, to which the traces are fastened. Adjustable to fit different horses.

Breast Plate or Breast Piece
  A leather neck strap attached to the D’s of the saddle by short straps, and to the girth which passes through a loop, it lies a few Centimetres in front of the withers to prevent the saddle from slipping back. It can also have a running or standing martingale attached.

Breastplate
  A strap around a horse's neck fastened to the front of the saddle and between the forelegs to the girth. It helps prevent the saddle slipping back.

Breathing Bridoon
  A straight-bar cylindrical snaffle bit having a number of holes drilled through it (at the time of manufacture). This bit is though to be effective with windsuckers.

Breeches
  Similar to jodhpurs but the leg stops well short of the ankle, leg wear often padded in the legs, thigh and bottom and are an essential for any English rider.

Breeching
  In a set of harness the wide band going around the horse's quarters well below the dock on which the horse can exert his weight backwards and act as a brake on the vehicle he is pulling.

Breeching Harness (long)
  More suitable for a four-wheeled vehicle and is adjusted by a ‘square.’ It is very neat and acts as a kicking strap if correctly adjusted.
