Grakle (or crossed) noseband
Is used for the same purpose as the drop noseband, but having an additional strap above the bit. It acts over a wider area and is more effective in preventing the horse from crossing his jaw. It is made up of two leather straps that cross over on the bridge of the nose and are either riveted together or crossed through a leather and sheepskin pad. Some horses take more kindly to this type of noseband because the positioning of the straps seems to be more comfortable. When fitting the top strap should always be done up first, then the bottom strap can be tightened as for a drop noseband.
