A horse standing with one frontleg stuck out markedly in front of the other. This usually indicates discomfort in the foot. The same action with the hind leg is normal and is referred to as 'resting a hind'.

Poitou Ass
An ass which sometimes attains 15hh, with as much as 9 inches of bone. It has enormously large ears, which cannot be carried upright but poke outwards and which have the hair inside forming a series of curls called ‘cadenettes’, this being a sign of pure breeding.
The usuall colours are dark brown and black, but greys are seen. Bred to cart mares, Poitou jacks throw very good heavy-type mules, some of which stand over 16hh.
