Tack
  A term for saddlery, (saddle, bridle, etc.,) A tack room is where the tack is stored.

Tail
  Bandages - are 6.5 to 7cm (2.5" to 3") wide and made of stockinet, crepe or synthetic material. They are used to save the tail from injury or rubbing when travelling and to improve the appearance of the tail.

Guard - a piece of equipment made of leather, jute or wool, designed to completely cover the dock and protect this area of the tail. Frequently used when travelling.

Trimming - can be a useful means of identification, although of course eventually they grow out. This method of marking is used for native wild ponies after they have been inspected.

Tapeworms
  (Anoplocephala perfoliata) live in the small intestine and caecum. They have an intermediate host.

Tarsus
  (Hock Joint), which are similar to the Carpus (knee), in that it is made up of six bones arranged in roughly three rows. The hock is equivalent to the human heal and is a hinge joint that extends and flexes. The bones of the hock act mainly against concussion, they can be felt through the skin.

  Are fibrous cords of connective tissue, attaching the muscle to bone/ cartilage or other muscle.

Tennessee Walker
  Breed of horse that originated in Tennessee. Smooth walking action (known as the runwalk) makes this horse popular.

Tetanus
  (Lockjaw) a disease caused by Clostridium tetani, an anaerobic bacterium that lives in the soil and body tissue away from oxygen. Vaccination with tetanus toxiod provides lasting immunity but need an annual booster injection.

Thill or Thiller
  The early name for shafts, still in use in the 19th century in some parts of Great Britain. The horse in the shafts was known as the Thiller horse.

Thin Sole
  An unusually thin sole of hoof, which bruises easily. It can be covered with a pad of leather kept in place with the shoe.

Thoroughpin
  An inflamed tendon sheath, which encloses the deep digital flexor tendon as it passes behind the hock. A soft swelling appears about level with the point of hock and extends from one side to the other beneath the tendons (gastrocnemius and superficial flexor) that cross over the point of hock. Seldom causes lameness but it can be unsightly.

Threadworms
  (Strongyloides Westeri) live in various tissues and the small intestine.

Throat
  (pharynx) the area at the back of the tongue, containing the soft palate, glottis, epiglottis, openings to the larynx (vocal cords), eustachian tubes and nasal cavities.
