Overview

Winston Churchill once said “No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle” and at New Rider we totally agree which is why we decided to put together an animated photo gallery – which arrives through your screensaver – for you to submit photos of anything to do with you and your horse. And, as it’s a self-updating screensaver, they’ll be new photos appearing all the time so you won’t get bored of it. If you have photos of you and your horse then don’t miss out and send them through to us at newrider@oxigen.net

The screensaver operates like a slide carousel, showing each slide for 15 seconds, and showcases your photos in a variety of different templates. It also carries a small number of adverts, which finance the service - so you don’t pay a penny.

Simply follow the step-by-step instructions below, wait for a few minutes until your computer nods off - and enjoy!

Computer Requirements

The New Rider screensaver has been designed for computers using Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP with a minimum display resolution of 1024x768 pixels.

Installation

Ensure you are logged onto your PC with Administrative privileges
- Click the download link/button
- Select ‘Open’ or ‘Run’ 
- Select ‘Setup’
- Read and ‘Accept’ the terms and conditions and click ‘Install’
- Click ‘Finish’

FAQs

My screensaver only ever displays the default welcome slide on my HOME PC

The screensaver operates in the same way as an internet browser requesting images from an internet website on a regular basis.  Your home PC firewall may, by default, require you to give explicit permission to PC applications to access the internet and hence may be blocking screensaver updates.  To correct this, configure your firewall to allow the application oxigen.exe to communicate with newrider.oxigen.net

Some PCs in large organisations communicate with the internet via a proxy server.
When you install the screensaver you should check your proxy configuration in your browser as follows:
Open Internet Explorer, click: Tools:Internet Options:Connections:LAN Settings
If the Proxy Server fields are filled in, make a note of the values.
Right click on the blue O in your Windows Systray and select Options
In the Proxy Server Connection section, enter the same values as you found in your browser.

Will the screensaver allow viruses or unwanted third parties into my files?

No. The screensaver operates in the same way as an internet browser. It requests images from a server on the internet on a regular basis. The images are not sent to your computer by a server trying to connect to your machine from the internet.
