Northfield Farm Riding and Trekking Centre

| Introduction |
|
Northfield is a working farm with suckler cows, sheep and horses, ever an odd pig or two and of course the usual assortment of dogs and cats! During the summer the farm animals are turned out and our main enterprise of pony trekking starts. The riding and trekking centre is situated in Flash, England's highest village and was opened in 1976 by David and Liz Andrews and is still run by them on a personal basis. We also have our own resident Andalusian Stallion, Jardinero, perhaps better known as Mel Gibson's mount is BRAVEHEART.

|
Northfield Farm is situated at the centre of Flash village which is midway between Buxton and Leek on the A53. From Buxton you travel over Axe Edge and will approach The Traveller's Rest on a sharp right hand bend. Continue along the main road for a further 250 metres and Flash is signposted to the right (approx. 5 miles from Buxton). From Leek you will climb steeply past Upper Hulme on to the beautiful moorlands passing The Roaches to your left. You will pass The Winking Man pub on your right. Continue along the A53 for approx. 2.5 miles where Flash is signposted - very tight left hand turn (approx. 6 miles from Leek). Northfield Farm is approx. 500 metres from the main road in Flash village where you follow to the left at the church and continue on for 100 metres. Northfield Farm is the first drive on your left.

Normally starting at 10.30 a.m. or 2.00 p.m., depending on the length. All rides are accompanied by our own very competent staff who are only too willing to help the clients regardless of their ability.
