(and nobody laugh, please!! this IS a big deal for me!)

    - TROTTED over some trotting poles and

    - CANTERED over a pole on the ground

I have a complete phobia of poles (I get very worked up about the thought of the pony tripping, stumbling and/or falling) so this was a huge step for me! friend who was teaching the lesson kept telling me to look at the horizon and not worry ... i was absolutely terrfied, but somehow got over them. several times :smug: still cant quite believe it! i was so scared i thought i'd puke for a moment ....

and blessed be the appleh pony

That's brilliant!! I dread the poles too but I've never done cantering over them so I can understand what a big deal that was - but you did it!

My RI propped alternative poles up last week (freaked me right out!) and same as you, told me to focus on the horizon.... and somehow we trotted over them! There is now the threat of learning to jump sometime in the not to distant future - eek!!

Keep us posted on your pole progress - and keep your chin up LOL

Oh well done. I'm not scared of poles, but Ziggy is, so I really understand how you feel!

I'm quite new to doing poles so i'm still a bit nervous of them too, I have used them with my share horse though and he doesn't seem to mind them so that helps! But cantering over them?.. i'm impressed!!:D
