Only a little while. We have given A horse bute (in paste form) and within a 20 - 30 minutes he was feeling the effects of it. Its much like human medication in terms of how long it takes to feel the effects.

Just out of interest, as ive had mixed opinions about this, how long does the powder form of bute take to get into their system and how long does it stay around for?

When Red was on bute he had one sachet a day, and the vet said that it lasted about 25-26 hours, so to give one at the same time each day you were upping the dose just before the effects started to wear off.
