Hey everyone, most of you seem to be very 'clued-up' about technical things, so I was just wondering if there were any rules about the age of the rider and height of the horse when competing?? I mean, can any size or age ride any height? I am only 14 but interested in competing my 16.2hh TB.
also, where can I find small shows in my area? There's a couple in papers and tack-shops, but not very many. Are there websites maybe?
Thanks :)

Hi,
Where abouts are you?
You'll probably find that classes have height restrictions rather than age restrictions
I knew a girl who was 12 and used to compete a 16.2
When you've found the shows you're interested in, you could always contact them and ask them whether you'd be eligable to compete :)
Hope that helped :)

Hey there thanks, I was talking to the manager and she said it is okay in w/h classes in dressage but something complicated about open sj classes. I'm in Antrim and there are loads of shows about, I just can't find any small ones to get Teddy used to travleling and not racing!! lol thanks :)

it depends on if the class has any restrictions on it. If i wanted to affiliate with my 17.2hh, i would have to skip juniors and go straight to seniors, as even though i am only 13, at 17.2hh Scooby is to big for juniors. But at local shows we enter all the open classes and we havent had a problem yet. hope i helped. PM me if you ave any other questions

I don't believe there are any restrictions of the height of horses versus the age of the competitor, pony classes excluded of course. I know a short 10 year old girl who used to compete on a 16h TB (an old school master, to say the least) in Jumpers.
So long as you can properly control the horse, of course. Breed shows may have different requirements, though, as they're looking for an ideal type of horse.

hi, im not sure about your area but it sound sas though you will be ok. in my area though you have to be 16 to compete anything over 14.2 and i think you have to be 12 to compete a 13.2 - 14.2
