What brand is it?
How much did it cost?

My sister's birthday is coming up and she has a very hard to fit horse (wide with very pointy high withers) but she would like to ride again anyway....bareback isn't an option because my sister had a riding accident a few years ago, I think she would need a bit more security. Anyway, I can't find a treeless saddle anywhere that's not out of my family's budget (we're actually not on a budget but it's not like we can go out and get a brand new $1,250 Freeform, despite how nice and comfy they look :o ) but I doubt I can find any treeless saddles in retail tack shops in my area.

Thanks a lot :)
PS: Shhh, no telling my sister about a surprise birthday gift :D

We got our first treeless used on the Treeless Saddles Yahoo group. You should join it, even if it's just to get some ideas on the different saddle choices. Somebody posted a Torsion Trecking Saddle there that they ahd bought for their husband but husband ended up not riding and it was exactly the type/size I had been looking for for my husband! It was in great shape and the buffalo leather version. It would have been $1,400 new but we bought it used for $750 (incl. shipping)

For a hard to fit horse you may want to demo one first though. I just bought another treeless for myself and demo-ed it for 10 before deciding. It's a Sensation saddle. It would most likely not work for your horse because of the withers but you can email Kaaren a picture of your horse (taken from the back/top) so she can see the angles/spine, etc.). Her website is www.kaarenjordan.com. She only sells Sensations and Fhoenix saddles. She's a professional saddlefitter and accupressurist (is that a word?). I think you'll find she really is right on with her evaluations.

PS: Lucky sis!

Forgot to mention: keep in mind treeless saddle will not be the only expense. Most of them will require a treeless saddle pad. We like Skito pads as they are so customizable to the different saddles and rider requirements.
The first Skito (for the Torsion) was $170. The new Skito for the Sensation will be $230 (because I upgraded to dryback. It's hot where we are...).

I've got a Cashel saddle! Made from foam and it is very light and is a bit like a bareback pad in some ways but it is thicker and has styrups and a girth! I think I payed £170 for mine and my horse goes very well in it ;)

I got my SBS from EE too when the introductory offer was on (£100 less than the eventual retain price :) ). I love my SBS :D
