you have to pass it through the cinch a few times then knot it, i think the western section on this site has an explanation on how to do it:)

You buckle your cinch on the right side of the saddle (The short strap). You then bring it under your horse and pass the long tie through the girth buckle and up through the D-ring. Keep passing it through until you have four layers of the tie. Then pass it through the D-ring and bring it under than over the tie and through the loop that you made. The final result will look like the knot in a man's tie.

Visit this thread: http://www.newrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31039 for graphic instructions.

Most modern-day girths come with buckle with tongue; but if your girth doesn't have a buckle with tongue, you'll have to tie it both sides with a Latigo Hitch (or similar hitch).

Harry

I can do a western saddle but would love to know how to tack up a team in harness. Last year I gave myself driving lessons (one horse)--it's a dream of mine to know how to harness a pair and a four-in-hand.

hehe

Its really not that hard to harness up, just looks a bit OMG whats all that!( like when I took the saddle out of the box with all the bits to it!)

When your doing a Team I reacon the main thing is to be organised!!!! :D ( something i'm not always best at:rolleyes: )

There just seems to be reins everywhere :p

Like taking a bridle apart and putting it all back together with no straps left over, I guess it's all in knowing how. ;)
