Hi, I have just been asked if I will teach one of my local pony clubs. All I have been told is I'll have four hours teaching on an odd sunday and will prob have six kids on each lesson.

Is there anyone who has taught pony club and may have some pearls of wisdom for me? I used to teach riding school around three years ago, but since gaining my qualifications around a year ago, I have mainly taught individuals.

I feel a bit duanted about it!

Can anyone help?

Depends on your Branch. Sometimes you will get an ill assorted group varying from LR to team members, sometimes a group of established competitors. Best to phone the Secretary to get some idea of the level and topic of the rally so you can plan some lessons.

Harder than teaching RS as the ponies can vary wildly in their knowledge and skills and sometimes ponies and riders are not very well matched.

Just make sure every one is firstly safe, secondly has fun and hopefully feels they have learned something.
