Is there much of a difference in how palatable they are? Sham has been having cal mag for a couple of weeks now, have noticed a HUGE improvement but he really, really hates it and its horrible seeing him starting to refuse dinner now when he is traditionally such a pig:D I have heard that mag ox is easier for them to eat but there also seems to be a large price difference, and add to that I would need to mail order it etc etc, so I just wondered if anyone has experienced the difference and has one that wouldnt eat cal mag but liked mag ox....

Mag Ox is more refined. As you know, Cal Mag is very gritty. Thankfully Saffy yums away at any feed and hasn't bothered about the Cal Mag though I know people who have had difficulties feeding calmag but haven't had any issues with Mag Ox.
Sorry, not a lot of help but I've heard of more horses rejecting Cal Mag than Mag Ox if that's any help at all .....

You can get Calmag from farmers merchants such as Mole Valley Farmers, I think a sack costs about £5. The MO I get from my trimmer as it's quite expensive to buy off the internet and there is only about 1 place that sells it anyway.

I've been grinding up Mag Ox tablets from Holland and Barrett (£3.65 in their sale for 200, but that still means pounding 20 per day). Any advice on cheaper, larger supplies would be good!
Oh and the ground up tabs just go straight in with the carrots and speedibeet which is all he's getting just now (and hoof supplement) - he doesn't seem to notice it, so it can't taste that bad!

He he I use Magnesium on Wizard, once I tried some Cal Mag:o it tasted like cribox! Top Spec Mag I find he eats more readily and it is slightly cheaper.

MgO isn't as gritty as calmag and you feed a lot less of it so much easier to hide it in a small feed.
