Boots when a horse has mud fever?

William has mud fever and I'm wondering whether to get him some Equi-chaps - or is it too late now he already has it?

I seem to remember hearing that once the horse has MF the boots can make it worse.

You are not supposed to put the boots on till all the MF is cleared up. If you put it on whilst they are not clear then the area will become sweaty and then the bacteria will just spread and the MF will get a lot worse.

It would probably be a good idea to get some equi chaps for when the mud fever clears up, but wouldnt use them until it had done.
