I bought 6 rubber mats yesterday unfortunately the measurements I had for the stable were the external measurements not internal so I actually only needed 5. Having contacted the company who provided them they told me they do not operate a returns policy and have no easy system to raise a cheque for refunded goods (I paid by cheque). They are offering me a discount against some Aquamax bedding instead - what do you think can they do that?

I can't believe that a company doesn't have a company chequebook ? Check the small print either on your order or if you bought online on the site. I think with a little bit of assertiveness you may be able to get your money back, either that or they resell quite well in local tack shops/feed shops ?

Yes seems odd! Defo check out all the small print. I thought it was actually illegal for a shop not to offer any returns policy... I remember a big hoo haa recently over clothing stores doing it.

well if they dont have an easy system.. they will have to just do it the hard way!!!
Demand a Bank transfer then or something along those lines show your in the know!

i thought by law you were allowed a colling off period. Part of your 16 day right to refund?
Best way to check is to contact trading standards and get advise from the people that know

Just checked the trading standards website and you are not entitled to anything if you make a mistake ie. wrong colour or size. Only got some more bedding yesterday also and you are supposed to use nine bags of Aquamax I think will only get five for the mat so it would mean buying more unless I can mix it with Nedz bed Pro?

I thought that with mail order, you have a right to return the goods within 14 days for whatever reason. Many companies offer over & above that to compete to keep customers happy.

I actually collected them from a local company.

if the policy is claerly stated & the goods are not faulty they are within right to do that
however as already stated if you bug them over it they may well relent , the chances of them not having a cheque book are very slim , sounds like they are just trying to discourage you
