Mine get cortaflex as they're both hard working middle aged ladies and calmag (milled magnesite) to promote good laminar connection in their feet and keep them chilled out during grass spurts.

They're also on TopSpec but I'm not sure if that's not a feed rather than a supplement :D

Bo (8 yo anglo arab) gets Farriers formula, a joint supplement and garlic.
Jess (3yo quarter horse) gets Benevit, a joint supplement and garlic and Limestone flour.

ETA: forgot the 'and why?' bit - Bo gets FF to keep his feet good and also we think he had a minor bout of lami last summer, he gets a joint supplement as he had a stifle injury last year and garlic as an all rounder :D Jess gets the benivit and garlic as all rounders, limestone as she is still growing and joint supplement to help support her baby bones :D

You're right Yann, sorry. :o I meant that I give it because of the supplements (biotin, trace elements, yeast etc) in it. :)

My boy gets

Biotin - is a sulphur containing B vitamins, which is particularly useful in maintaining good horn growth. Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin and is not stored in the body for any period of time. It is either used by the body cells or excreted in the urine

Apple cider vinegar - is claimed to reduce the risk of Azoturia (Tying Up), and reduce joint disease in developing horses. Others say that feeding Cider Vinegar to a horse repels flies and other insects such as bot flies, and reduces calcification of joints and arthritis.

Codliver Oil- A traditional supplement for a shiny coat, joint suppleness and general condition

Dandelion -Dandelion is both cleansing and diuretic.

Multi Vit -maintain a healthy balance

Cortaflex -joint nutraceutical - at 15 my boy has slight arthritis

Alex used to get Mud Guard- but i felt it was doing nothing and more for my peace of mind, and sinse taking him off it theres no change so it was a waste of 30 quid a month!!!

Pink powder- had some problems this year and vet said to get him on that, huge improvement!

I feed him D&H Ultmate Balancer, as a suppliment rather than a feed, off the top of my head i know it has biotin in, and his feet are much better now! Omega oils, and msm.
And he is MUCH healther on this :D

i use blue chip original - with one of the dengie fibre feeds - which combines oil with vitamins, minerals and more, so i don't really need any extra alongside that.
if anything though, i do use hand-picked herbs (such as dandelion root and leaves, thistles, nettles, red clover, hawthorne and carrot leaves . . . and i love cortaflex too.

glucosamine tabs - extra care for his joints although he is only 15 this year but doesn't hurt to be careful.

Joe gets cosequin - for his on going joint degeneration problem, biotin gold label (only one he will eat) for healthy hooves and I'm going to get him a supplement for his coat - he's been a bit scurfy / dandruffy, and he's shedding but cos he's on box rest I don't want extra weight on, so am getting a low cal one from the vet rather than using oil.
Storm has biotin for her hooves - but thats about it for madam - she doesn't seem to need much!
