i want to have a go at dressage

i have decided that i would like to have a go at dressage with my 14.2hh cob. I am 17. could anyone tell me the lowest level, unaffiliated. what tests i could do, i think :S i dont know the first thing about dressage so could you tell me what i would need to do to prepare etc.
