ok first day of ownership and i already have a question :D

elja is somewhat on the fidgety side when it comes to taking her bridle off..basically as soon as i get it off she constantly rubs her head up and down me and it takes a few minutes to get her head collar on.

i understand that with the warm weather she is itchy after riding around her face and places because of the winter fur that is falling out and the sweat.

anyone got any tips??

Kally does that, as the first place she sweats when worked is behind her ears!!

I just move out the way slightly when she goes to do it, so that I am not there (but obviously not too far away!!). But it is one of things that have to be all or nothing. You can't let her do it now, and then tell her off at shows because she might get your nice jacket dirty. I don't mind Kal rubbing me in the field, so when she does it when I dont want her to I just get out of the way rather than tell her off and confuse her.

try snapping your fingers or clapping your hands or something that makes a sudden noise. this works on one of our school ponies who does this, it distracts her long enough for us to slip her bridle off.
