Hi everyone! not sure if anyone would want to know, but I would just like to wright it anyway, just for my benifit.

I am doing so well in my lessons! For the people that don't know, I am blind, and have been rideing for all most a year now, and have been at my new rs for I think three months now.

Before I went to my new rs, I wasn't very conferdent at all, I had a problam with holding on to the saddle, witch was a very big sercurity ishoo for me, due to my last ri makeing me do things that I didn't want to do. So now, I have improoved so much, I'm no longer holding on to the saddle for sercurity, and my ri has even bought me a locater to help me go around the areena on my own! and i am! yesterday I started trotting around the areena on my own, with no one by my side, just my ri at the end of the areena watching me! I'm even doing 10 meater serkals! It's so great, I actuly feel like I am rideing! My riseing trot is great now to, she says I have a butiful porsition. Haven't tackaled the canter yet though. but have tackaled the dreded riseing diaggenal! My ri is so great she is getting another three locaters for me to put in eatch corner of the areena.

I am so glad I chose to go to this rs, it's changed my life forever. I don't think I would be where I am now, and sertenly wouldn't be going to the r d a nationals or competing at all!

thanks for lissoning to my long thred!

Actually I have to say you have made me feel quite ashamed of myself, you are so clearly enjoying your riding and ooze confidence whereas I go round with the "what ifs" constantly in my head. I feel quite humbled by your achievements.

Well done! You should feel very proud of yourself for such a great accomplishment. On RFD TV I saw a blind dressage rider that competing in national competition using locaters and a headset to communicate with her RI. It was amazing to see.

Brilliant news hun, well done!! You're doing so well and sound so happy, well deserved :)

I'm deaf, different issues I know, I can't hear instruction unless I ride to my RI and look at him/her to lipread - they haven't always been patient with me though, probably because it doesn't show (I had one shouting and shouting at me to change something I was doing wrong, in the end my daughter had to 'remind' them I couldn't hear, not that I wasn't listening  ) :o You sound like you've got a great RI, I wish I could find one.

You are a STAR, keep it up and do keep updating us :D

thanks everyone, I'm so glad I am apart of sutch a great and friendly forem!

scoobiedoo- I still have my what if moments, I am terafied of getting kicked, as I can't get out of the way quick enough! and I hear about all the bad acserdents people have had on here and I must admit that it scares me a little... but it's all part of the sport.

Imp- I have had the same problam! my ast ri I think use to get very frustrated with me, I could tell by his voice. it actuly made me feel pretty bad. but my curent ri is so great at explaining things so well that I understand what she is meaning quicker, because she takes time to explainit to me.

Keep hunting around , you will find your perfickt ri. it took me a wile of hunting around to find one, because not alot of people would let me lern at there rs...

How cool is that ! I was watching a blind lady ride dressage on TV recently too, and she was wonderful. Also a lady with no legs at all ! (Ok, thats off-topic, but I was suitably impressed by them both ).

How does the locator work ? is it a sound thing ? Can other people hear it ? I hadn't heard of htem before I saw them on this TV show.

yeah you can hear them, they just beep as you are coming closer . the locater I have isn't a locater for the blind as sutch, it's actuly a thing people use for getting the beet in music, I forget what it's called, but it works the same way!

Hey horse_crazy if you don't mind me asking... is typing hard since your blind? I've always wondered how it's done...

Wonderful news on the achievements :D

Hi cupcake, no thats ok I don't mind you asking me anything, ask away. typeing is hard for someone that has been blind since birth, since they have never seen a key bord. but I have only been blind for three years, so it's easyer. and I know how to tutch type, witch I lernt back in grade 1, mostly everyone is tort tutch typeing from an erly age when you are vition impaired, witch I was before I went completely blind. so I guess you could say I am pretty lucky. people that are totaly blind lerning to type lern with a typeing program on the computer that speecks to you.
