What exactly do you have to do as I have thought about giving it a go with Katey!!!
BTW Katey is 14.2hh dark bay TBXDartmoor mare.
She has good straight conformation and can jump quite well!!
Although we are working on it!!!!

You have to jump a course of rustic 'worker' fences, at a more forward sort of pace. Then if you go clear (or the judge may let everyone) you all go in as a group and then it's like a normal showing class you walk/trot/canter round as a group and then do an individual show :)

You jump over a corse of rustic fences....they may also include water trays, bullfinches, flowers etc. Depending on where you are ie. local and county and how big the classes are etc. clears go back in. And often people with a few faults go back in as well.
You then all do a small show **or often you do your show straight after you jump* then you do a comformation run up, strip your horse ie. saddle off boots off.
Take boots of for show part, on for jump part. Keep tack and bit the same fro show and jump part.#
Also in your show it must be short and sweet with an extension:)

I thought you only jumped once you'd got past the initial 'viewing' stage, individual show etc?

No, you jump first. Individual show afterwards. In a big class, only the clear rounds will be asked back in to do their show. If a horse has had a jump down or made a silly mistake and the judge likes it, you may see it go back in again. Otherwise, they are basically out of the line up.
Jump a clear, steady round at a good hunting canter - forward, springy, bold. The judge is looking for boldness and style rather than speed, though. It's an ideal class for the more 'workmanlike' horse and is good fun, too.
Best of luck.
