Okay..So..We took Lacey show jumping at Quob Stables today, first time at that venue..
So she did quite well, we were eliminated in both classes :o but I was really pleased with her in the 2 foot 6. (Only 4 people out of over 70 entered managed a double clear so that says something about the course :p ). Lots of fillers but they don't worry her. 2 doubles. She is a bit worried with doubles, she stopped at the second part of the first one and at the first part of the second one so we were eliminated.

I was a bit disappointed with her in the 2 foot 9, because the double she was eliminated at in the 2 foot 6 was the third jump and she stopped twice at the first part, so we were eliminated. A bit disappointed there because she wouldn't have a stab at it the second time but...

Anyway, I'm having Friday off school so I have plenty time to give her a good schooling session with doubles. (going hunting on Sunday and want to go for a nice hack on Saturday), the wednesday after my mum will set some doubles out in the morning and we'll have a 30 minute recap after school (hopefully going friday night jumping on the 2nd to qualify for cricklands fingers crossed). I thought I'd just set out 4 or 5 doubles with different things (aka some with 1 stride some with 2 strides some with both uprights some oxer then upright, some upright then oxer) and just practise them and if all goes well put them up a bit so they're the same heightr as I'll be jumping on the Friday (2 foot 6 as i wanna qualify 2 foot 3 and 2 foot 6 or 2 foot 6 and 2 foot 9, pref 2 foot 3 though cos i think that'll be easier on her for her first championship, not going with intention of winning anyway) . Have you got any tips for building up her confidence other than what I've said? (practise over small ones and build it up) It should come with time, shouldn't it?

Anyway, here are some photos. (off a video so excuse quality)

Pictures are lovely. I would take it down a step with her tbh. If she's getting eliminated its no good for either of you :(

I had a big issue with doubles so every week for my lesson my instructor would put them out, starting with say 4 strides inbetween then shortening it gradually. I cant remember how we completely solved it, it just kinda clicked i supose.

Good luck with her, shes gorgeous

I'm not taking her down a height unless she stops/has fences down at other parts of the course, since she does it with lower jumps too, it's not the height at all. She jumps better bigger.

(Also look at how she jumps she doesn't have a problem with the height xD)
Thanks though, that makes sense cos then it sort of starts off a related distance, which she'd fine with, and slowly becomes a double. I'll def try that, might work.

Edit// Just realised the first bit sounds really ungrateful and a bit b****y. :D I'm doing smaller classes at the friday night jumping if its on anyway, (2 foot 3 and 2 foot 6 because I want to qualify for cricklands at those heights) but I honestly don't think its the height that's the problem, she was unsure at the 2 foot 3 of the doubles too and stopped a couple of times. (The reason we went up was because last week the place i was going to do 2 foot 6 and 2 foot 3 was flooded so we went somewhere else but arrived when the 2 foot 6 was in process so we did that and she jumped so nicely we did te 2 foot 9 and she jumped even better so we decided to do that today). But thanks, if she keeps on stopping we'll drop her down but I'll try some schooling at first.
