RI's under the weather and stuck in bed, so I couldn't ride today. So Coquette and I worked on a new command. Come. This is something I've been trying to teach her for awhile, but she just wasn't getting it. She'll do anything else for me without a lead line. She'd happily halt when asked and wouldn't so much as rest a foot no matter what I did (I can run circles around her) until I asked her to move again. I'd try moving away from her and calling her names, and she'd prick her ears, but wouldn't budge. No matter what I did, she wouldn't move. Today, the lightbulb finally went on. I don't know what I did differently, but she came. She'd stand still while I moved away from her, then I'd say, "Coquette, come!" and hold my hand out to her and she'd happily plod over to me. :D :D I can't wait until tomorrow to work at it some more! I love these moments!!

i never actually 'trained' mine to come ... but i find yelling and frantic armwaving work a treat, especially when she is a good way away :D

see my post on the 'longeing advice' topic here' - the same technique applies here, and it actually works and has simplicity even we can understand! ;-D
