My lower leg moves.....A LOT! Mostly just when i trot, though. I look down and it looks like they are aaaalll over the place. I tried to wrap my legs softly around Maya, but her bouncy, fast trot makes them move just as much. How can I tighten up my lower leg? thanks!!!

practicewalking, then trotting, standing up in your stirrups. not in jumping position, but as you would be when you rise to the trot. hold on to the mane at first, so you don't thump onto the pony's back if you lose your balance. this gets your lower leg underneath you, and will get you used to holding tem still.

I have the same problem as well. My teacher's losing his voice, yelling for me to keep my legs from flapping around. Usually when this happens, I try to do more sitting trot and less rising trot.
During the sitting trot, instead of concentrating on the up-down movement, relax on the seat and focus more on how to keep your legs from flapping around. Bringing your heel down and your legs back a few inches usually works for me.

I firmly believe that riding without sturrips will fix the problem. You will no longer be able to swing your leg because you'll need it to keep you in the saddle. Start off slowly then work your way to doing a post trot, half seat and so forth without sturrips.
