Pickle did that for a while between the ages of 2 and 3, he used to grab my coat and hold it as I tried to leave the field, just like you I was worried it could develop into a bad habit etc, but it was so sweet, he just wanted me to stay and play :D

I have a pony who's very similar and it is his way of playing. I tend to push his nose away when he starts and he gets the idea. Keep an eye on it and see if he does it more often out of the field. He may have smelt something nice on you and wanted a taste!! ;)http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k266/flintybaby/Icons/curious.gif

Horse's bite each other when they want to show dominance or want to rough play. Either way, biting humans should ALWAYS be discouraged, period. A horse can easily injure a human, even by accident, and so biting should always be discouraged and even punished.

I bought my first horse in December 07 and am enjoying getting to know her habits and moods.
I think that being on the ball whilst you are round your horse is the key and spotting the signs that a nip may be iminant so you can prevent it, you can then get in a well timed block. The horse will bump it's nose and think twice without the need for punishment or reprimand :)
Of coarse if you are anything like me then your mind may wander and then my theory goes straight out the window
