hi! Next monday me and Elfin are doing our second ever dressage test, Prelim 18,
which is almost exactly the same as the one we did before:rolleyes:slightly confussing!,
but I'm a bit worried as recently we've been jumping all of the time and so I haven't
ridden on the flat for about a month! Has anyone one done it?? Any tips??
thanks again, Muzzy:D

Ride straight on the centre line and make sure your halt is square - that is what is always done the worst and is a real waste of marks.

mmm, on my first test I got told I didn't halt squarely......but at the time I was happy to just be finished:p I guess I want ths test to be a little more accurate! :D

Make sure that u both warm up your ponies properly so that they are listening to your aids properly. Don't be tempted to rush your test to get it over and done with u will just end up ruining it.

Above everything else make sure that u smile and enjoy yourself - after all riding and competing is supposed to be great FUN!! :) Hope that it helps

Love

I had a practice lesson yesturday, and it worried me! I'm riding Prince who is very nice but needs to be sat on his hocks and very rounded before actually doing anything!
I was having trouble getting him to canter because a) he wasn't bent round my leg enough and b) wasn't collected enough.... any tips???! I'm very scared now I've never really had trouble actually getting canter before....:( ;)
Princess..the transition idea is brilliant and is the only thing that really gets him listening!

Hi Muzzy,

I'm glad my idea helped u. Try not to panic too much about your test, espically after your lesson.

I'm sure you will both be fantastic and I had a similiar thing happen to me - a terrible lesson 2 days before a one day event (my first ever!!) but that just made me even more detemined to ride well and pull off a good perormance.

I ended up coming 6th out of 32 competitors (sp).

Anyway, good luck (not that you'll need it though!) and enjoy yurselves!

lots of love Sophie xxx

Thank you! I am determined to beat this lady who is riding the same horse as me actually...cause she thinks that she is soooo much better than me! lol!:p
Wow! I'd love to event sometime!!:D

Good for you Muzzy!

You show this woman what a good rider you are!

Don't you just hate people like that though? Who think that they are so much better than you for what ever reason?

:p

Thanks I think it will go pear shaped but there is still hopefully one final time to practice unless I get made to join in the Easter gymkana on Sat! :D
