Anyone know what this could be>..? My horse has a small lump on his mane just above his withers, its a blob shape not a circle about the size of a 10p.There is not head or crust its just a lump under the skin, its doesnt really appear painful either.

He has had a sarcoid in the past but that has gone.

Any pictures? It could just be a blocked pore. x x x

A microchip? That's roughly where Jackson's is...

Is it hard or soft? Is he rugged?
It could be what my boy has, the name escapes me, but it's basically where an insect has bitten and then the area gets covered by a saddle or rug, and then the cellulose (?) builds up. Apparently they are quite common, not painful and can go away by themselves, or else injections can be given. They are not 100% sure on what causes them, but insect bites seems the most probable, or sweat. I'll look up the name for you when I get a chance :)

Collagen, not cellulose! Gah I'm stupid sometimes!

They're called Eosinophilic granulomas or collagen granulomas and yeh, normally occur under the saddle area, however my vet said they can also occur wherever a horse is rugged. Maybe that's what it is?

Ahh bay's not so bad. If you'd said grey I would have said to get your vet to take a look in case it was a melonoma. Much more unlikely in a bay though (although my black horse got an enormous one, but it's very unusual!).

Our bay welshie had one there in the summer that gradually disappeared over 2-3 weeks, assume it was a bite / allergic reaction to one.
