So im getting my new horse on the 19th, only just over a week!!! I know his pervious owner and he has always been wormed so when i get him should i give him a 5 day course of wormer or not as i dont want to fill him with unnecessary chemicals, but i obliviously i dont want him to have worms either so not sure if i should give him a course or should just continue with the usual worming program?? any advice please!

he should be wormed when he gest on to the yard, preferably with all of the other horses too or it won't be nearly as effective.
the 5-day-course should be fine, but ask yur vet as he/she willl know what will woprk best for your horse and yard.

When we moved yards ours were wormed right away before they could go out to pasture. Prior to that I followed our vets worming program. When I move home I'll ask the vet for advice and follow his program again prob.

Get a worm count done. If he really has been well wormed then you don't want to give more wormer. Alternatively if he shows a parasite problem you will know about it and can take action.
You get your results back very quickly and its very easy to do, ideal for this situation.
