just to give you the background ... my horse has been lame for coming up to 6 weeks now, it all started when she tripped really awkwardly in the school and she hasnt been right since, its much worse on a right bend than in a straight line
the vet carried out a nerve block almost two weeks ago and found the problem in the coffin bone/joint area on her front right leg and she came sound again when he injected this area. she was x-rayed the next day and it showed no fracture, chip or any bone disease (like ringbone). so the vet did her steroid injection just over a week ago as he thinks its a muscle or ligament strain and hopefully that would aid the healing process in the joint
the vet told him to hack her out in walk only this wk which ive done and to trot her up on monday to see if shes sound ... well i went up today and walked her out up the lane... which seemed very eager and wanted to trot home & was very lively in herself
so i decided to bring forward the trotting up to today ... im no expert but she didnt look lame - i asked another livery for her opinion and she agreed but also said that when i get to turn her round she looked a little short on her front leg
anyway so tomorrow im going to trot her on a circle (either lunge or ride not sure which) to see what she looks like ... im praying she will be sound
if she's not sound on a circle tomorrow can anyone offer any advice on where we might go from here .... ???
(im going to ring the vet on monday anyway to discuss with him but just thought i could get some opinions as im so worried)
thanks
