I did a search on here before posting, but didn't come up with many answers. My gelding Jesse is blanketed but today when I went to see him and took his blanket off I noticed all these bald spots on his back and some around his neck. They were not irritated, just bald skin about 1 1/2" in diameter. I thought they were bite marks but he's been blanketed and the blanket has no rips or tears. I did call someone over to take a look and they seemed to think they were bite marks.
Any idea what else it could be? Someone did mention ringworm on the forum here. Any suggestions or remedies?
Thanks in advance!

The only thing i could think of is sometimes a horse who is rugged up can get bald patches from a rug which could be prehaps be to tight around the chest, shoulder or wither area, is there any signs near these areas that show baldness?

Do you have any pics to show us ?
Could be a number of things, overheating under blankets, ringworm etc etc
Hope you find an answer :)

If they are nice neat circles then ringworm would be a good bet, but if they are uneven then thats less likely. Bites even through a blanket are possible, but not overly likely. I would also check for lice and mites - they tend to hand out rouund the mane and tail and along the back. Also check its not rain scald/rot, if they get warm under blankets they can get it.
