Hi,

After buying Jerry last June he's come a long way from the little skinny 4yr old he was. he lived out all summer and this did him the world of good and he has filled out a bit, got a belly and his coat his shiny. he is one of these horses that will always find it difficult to keep his weight on (just the way he is!).

I wil put pix up soon but if you can imagine a small built horse (he's 15.2 holstinerXwestphalian - looks more like a westphalian) that has no shoulder and no back end. he gets sufficient schooling but he's still lacking the weight. it has been suggested that i try top spec (i'm assuming that its one of the 2 different conditioning blends). i think his age is playing a major factor in his weight problem and the fact that he is very "ancy" when ridden for the first 30mins and he enjoys his time turned out "with the lads" a little too much!!

i'd love to know if anyone else's horse struggles to maintain its condition and if anyone has tried top spec or reccommends something similar??

Amz xx

Pickle is on TopSpec balancer, they are very helpfull too, if you give them a ring and explain your problems they will devise a diet for you :D

I would certainly give it a whirl, though it has been known to make some horses a bit stroppy at the full dose. They also do conditioning flakes and cubes to feed alongside the balancer which are also very effective.
