Dolly is a 16.2 shire x Tb and is about 21yr. I have had her for nearly 6 yrs. I bought her off some people who had only had her about a yr, if that and hadn't done anything with her, they actually knew very little about horses. However, they told me that she had been used as a brood mare for many yrs, by her previous owner. My queery (sp) is, is that she always appears to have some milk. This increases in the summer to the point where it sometimes leaks. I do make sure that her udder is never hot and inflammed but I just wondered if anyone has any ideas about what is causing this?

We had a similar thread on NR a while ago - might be worth trying to find it.

A previous mare of ours was 26 and often leaked cleary-white milk when I cleaned her udders. They were never inflamed / sore / bleeding / swollen / causing her distress. I just noticed the dribble on my hand.

We just put it down to hormonal variation. She had had a foal many years before.
