Anyone got any tips for maintaining balance after a jump. I am sitting back on approach, folding correctly over the jump and recovering and sitting straight back up after the jump. Heels are down, I am very conscious of this, and I always give plenty with the reins. My RI has said today that my jumping is coming along really nicely and we were jumping 2'6 straights today. I always feel really unbalanced after a jump although everyone watching said I didnt look it:confused:

Its so frustrating, I lost my left stirrup today, managed to stay on though, and almost lost my right rein coming through the corner immediately after a jump. Is it just nerves, or is there anything I can do to improve my balance. Our flat work is fine now and I never feel unbalanced when riding in general, I just feel completely out of whack on landing after a jump. What am I doing wrong:o

Stay deep inyour stirrups, and make sure not to over jump or jump ahead, because that really messes up your balance on landing. Also, I do lots of no stirrup work over little bitty x rails, and since your horse doesn't jump as high, it's not that bad. But it helps my balance. Also to help with balance, my coach will put up crossrails, and tie up our horse's reinsz, then make us jump with our hands on our hips. It really helps make sure you don't maintain on your hands for your balance. Hope I helped.
