Please, please send me some good luck vibes for our Joe, he's being scoped over the weekend:eek: :( - vet suspects something more sinister up there (his nose has been snotting for over a week and not responded to antibiotics). Am really really worried for him - he's not looking ill, but not quite himself. I know it won't be pleasant for him, but at least we'll know whats causing it. Poor lad, he's gone through so much lately, what with leg scans and his ongoing joint degeneration treatment!

Wishing Joe the briefest most comfortable scope ever, with positive results. And hope you don't have too much of a struggle in the process.

I have helped out while a vet scoped a horse before (the tb I am thinking of taking on incidentally)... and it wasnt very stressful at all..
Maybe it was that the horse in question is good as gold anyway, but it can be ok.

Just an update!
Thanks for all your good vibes, I passed them all on to Joe last night - he had his scope this morning, outlook could be worse - vet thinks it might be something linked to a bad tooth. The actual scoping wasn't too bad, JOe was very brave - and our vet has such a nice way with him - so he didn't suffer. He's got to have x rays next week - to determine which (if any) tooth it is thats caused the trouble - then he may have to go to Liverpool for an extraction - poor lad. Not looking forward to that, but I'm sure he'll be in good hands - and its better to get to the root of the problem than keep masking it with antibiotics. Just hope he travels ok!!!
Once again thanks for all the messages. Trewsers.xxxxx

Aw poor lad, but if it is a tooth then getting it sorted asap will no doubt bring him relief from it - my friends horse had a cracked tooth and he had all kinds of problems with infections - once it was taken out he was so much happier and no more problems :D

Thanks everyone, still hoping to get the x rays done WEdnesday, and still hoping that they don't point to a bad tooth, but vet seems to think its most likely cause of his horrible (and now smelly - yuck, sorry if you're eating whilst reading this!) nasal discharge. Poor poor boy, perhaps as well he's on box rest as I'm quite sure Storm wouldn't go near him if they were in the field together - its terrible stuff - I really feel for him! Beginning to feel as tho his stable is jinxed - apparently the previous occupant was very ill all the time too - tho I don't usually worry about stuff like that, but its weird how Joe is seeming to decline the longer he stays in there!!!

Funny, someone else has suggested that I must get some - do you just get it from tack / feed shops?

BTW, just a small update, Joe is on standby to go to the hospital to have the x rays done - vet has decided as there are so many to be taken it would be near on impossible to bring the machine to him and do them, something to do with only being able to develop 6 at a time? Anyway, I'm just making lists of things he needs to take with him - wonder if they provide feed or should I take his??? - Oh dear, so much to think about.............I'll pass on your best wishes to him tho - just hope he doesn't suss on tonight that there is something going on.........

Aw bless him. When Jess was in hospital all they wanted of hers was her headcollar, and make sure its a soft/leather one as they leave it on all the time with their name tag etc attached to it - they didn't even want her lead rope. I'm not even sure about rugs, my girl went in October and we did go in a bit of a hurry so she didn't have one on but they never asked me to take one in or anything.
I would give them a call this afternoon and see if they need anything in particular :D
Yeah just get the Eichneacia in a tack/feed store :D
