I've just added a page (http://www.newrider.com/html/kw/video.html) about Heather's video which accompanies her Enlightened Equitation book. There are some stills from the video and a short video clip. This plays through the Windows Media Player which I think many of you will already have on your machines.
Do let me know what you think of the video clip - is it worth waiting for the download, did it play OK etc. If it proves popular I hope to be able to use some other short clips to illustrate points in the Kinder Way to Ride (http://www.newrider.com/html/kw/introduction.html) series.
Also added are the first two brave people (Sue and Allie) who submitted their details for the members pages (http://www.newrider.com/html/mem/member_index.html). Haven't yet decided on a final format for these pages - we'll have to see how many entries we get.
Coming soon will be some more on grooming after my recent trip to see Sarah and Tango to take some photos.

I found an error on the video page that prevented the video clip from playing. Should be fixed now.

hello!
I can't get the video clip to work - it asks me to install the viewer everytime - and i have definitely installed it. Have you got any top tips?
bye!

Yes, thought we might have some trouble with the video. I've tried it on several old and ordinary machines and it seems OK. I've just changed it slightly so it will start playing automatically.
The Microsoft install system for the Player is not very clear but you do have to install several pieces. So when it looks like it's asking you to install the software again it's really asking to install another section. Let it install everything it wants and see if it works then.
See if that makes it work.

Mike,
If it's going to play automatically can you tell me if it has sound, as I'd hate it to start playing when I'm in the middle of a full office, as happened at Christmas when someone sent me a jingle bells e-mail!!!

Hi Mike, I keep getting prompted to install the program too. It's not different bits because it wants to overwrite the version previously installed. Looking at the minimum system requirements for Windows Media Player I see that it requires a sound card which my computer does not have. Could this be the reason? I'll be very disappointed it I can't see the video clip and I'd find it very difficult to persuade my employer to install a sound card specially!

I think it should at least play without a sound card.
If people keep getting trouble with being prompted to install Media Player I can take that piece of code out and just put in an ordinary link to download the Player from Microsoft. That might make things easier.

I've changed the video page so you won't be promted to download the player and changed the video file format to AVI. This means you'll have to wait for the whole video file to download before it will play but it might make it easier for many people to see.
Let's see if that helps the problems so far.

Sorry, no luck. I get the message: Video not available, cannot find 'vids:50 decompressor' I tried installing the media player software again, but it still wouldn't work. Complicated stuff this modern technology isn't it? BTW thanks for all your hard work in making this and the rest of the site available to us. We really do appreciate it.

I've added an alternative video file link on the page. See if that one will play for you. It's not as good quality as the main file and slightly larger in size.

Hello Mike
I haven't logged on for while to look around the site, and was not aware of the "modelling" or the "dangling carrots". Please let me have the details. I hope to be able to visit the site again later today to see what other new stuff I have missed.

I've got it! The new link now works. I located the mpfull.exe file on the hard drive which had downloaded from the link and double clicked on it which started the installation. I suppose I should have done this before but didn't know I had to (computer illiterate twit that I am). After I had done that I could see the video clip from the new link but not the original one. Thanks Mike, the clip is really helpful.
