How about a section for people to post their tributes/memories of their horses?
Things like photos, poems and stories of their lives - I know I would like to do a tribute to a horse I loved that was recently pts, and to share it with all the kind and lovely people here on NR. I'm sure others would like to do the same :)

Yes I do think that would be a good use of a forum. Something which would stay forever so it can always be viewed :)
I would have a story i'd like to input, definitely x

Nice idea. They have one on the IH Forum - the only problem is I start crying whenever I read anything in there:o I mean, proper sobbing:o

Thanks everyone for your replies and thoughts on this.
Wonder what the mods think? Good idea or not so good? :)

I like it! You can see my big soppy post in Cafe for my beloved Cheeky. It'll be gone in a couple of weeks, but I've archived it in my LiveJournal. But I'm just one mod out of many, depends on what they think too. :)

I think its a good idea, but does it have to be just about horses ... suppose its a horsey forum, but what about rabbits? :o

I think it would be a nice idea if other pets could be included.

I guess there could be like a sub-section, to include other pets if wanted :)

Awwww :( ((hugs)) for your cavalier
Well, I was thinking, you know like the Mature riders have a sub-section for adults who ride ponies?
We could do the same thing - have a tribute section for horses, then a subsection for other pets!

Sugarlump, so sorry to hear about your little dog. I love those King Charles Spaniels. If I could have a dog, that's what I would have - but - I'm afraid, the cats would eat him!!!

thankyou guys :):( my honest advice would be to get a cross breed. our ltlle boy came from somthing like the second best breeder in the uk, and had deifferent blood lines, amazing family, but his heart failed him. sometimes i think its better to go for cross breeds to save from heart break :o

How does having a cross breed save from heart break?

Cross breeds tend to live longer than the pedigrees. I guess they're a bit tougher. Our pedigree cats seemed to die aroudn the 14-16 years old bracket. The oldest cat we ever had was a spayed black female and she lived until she was 24. A black moggie male (another neuter) lived until 23. The oldest pedigree we've had died at 14. My 2 British shorthairs are almost 15 now.

does anyone know if the same is true for horses? I've never really thought of it applying to horses or ponies
