Hi Nic,

Thanks for thinking of me hun :)

I'm newly self employed and spending every waking hour working (or up the yard ) - this seriously affects my surfing for pleasure time

Still, Meggymoo settling in well. It's so muddy, the fields are like paddy-fields!

I've taken on the yard's favourite instructor and had my first lesson on Saturday. I was so nervous as I really haven't been riding properly, just hopping on bareback which I find, irrationally, more settling and natural. The saddle and stirrups scare the daylights out of me

Ohh, hello Dad, taking pics? *strikes a pose*

Here's Megan showing new instructor just how much she likes being lunged

She soon settled down after a stressy canter/trot/canter/rodeo

RI got on her for a little ride, she commented on what a sweetheart Megs is... I knoooow :)

Then the nervous, creaking, aged... well, fortymumbles, mummy climbed on. My legs were shaking and my reins were like the proverbial 'washing lines' for a bit. I soon relaxed and Megs looked after me, bless her :p I stayed firmly on the end of a lunge line

more follows... if you can bare it!

The mud really is getting to me now. It took me 45 minutes to demudify the hairy hippo on Saturday before I could tack her up. Megan does NOT like being groomed, the task therefore was not an easy or pleasant one for either of us :(

A lovely girl at the yard clips neddys.... soooooo with the help of a mild sedative:

"Voila!!"

Thought these might make you smile:

Total fear of falling, look at my expression... Gawd, this is supposed to be fun! AND, I'm only walking her!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/lynda788/Megan/Feb07CharmsMyfirstlessononMegan077.jpg

And the trot... enough said! At least it made me laugh.

I felt so confident by the end of the lesson I thought I'd ride Megs back part way round the X country course (which is the only way back). RI walked alongside. Megan, nostrils flared, huffing and puffing like the musical dragon we know and love ;) Then, somebody spoke from the other side of the hedge, UP she shot and jumped sideways, I lost a stirrup but stayed put. RI was great and talked me through keeping her going slowly to make her think I had control... worked, even made me feel in control! :D

Nervous Nelly checking out (got to lunge and ride by myself this week *eek*!)

Fab to see and hear all about your brave time Imp. :D Great to see you back in the saddle. And how smart is Megs? Did you... holds breath... hog her? As you know, I like hogged manes on a cob, especially when you leave the forelock. Reminds me of Apache.:)

And.. big question.. will you do it again? Have you given up on the idea of a new horse? That smile in the second photo says it all.

Oh Imp!!! *sniff*..... I KNOW it's easier for you both but her lovely mane and forelock.... *sniffle*

The clip looks lovely and very practical and Chez has legs like that - with the ickle peeking hooves... ok, not quite so ickle! I trimmed them back in November (ETA: her feathers, not her legs!!! LOL) and it's making life a little easier. I am sure that her new "do" will make grooming much less stressful for the pair of you....

Well done on managing a smile or two in your lesson as well. Onwards and upwards my gal :D

Gorgeous pics, I love her clip, it kind of looks like a big go faster stripe :p Last time I tried to trim Pumpkins feathers, it all went a bit wrong and it looked like he was wearing a pair of trousers. I leave well alone now. I'd love to tidy him up a bit, but no one else at the yard has a hairy monster, so I can't get tips from anyone. I love her 'look how much I love lungeing' pic! :D
