for people who have been here over a year???

i dont think i have lol - but i go onto a different forum and they have a section that is for people taht have been here for over a year - and they get invited to join

so even if a persona has been here over a year - and no-one wants them to join - they dont get invited:)

What for exactly? As far as I can see, everything that is relevent to the board already fits into a section.

Plus, I don't like the notion of somebody being disliked, and therefore not invited. There are also plenty of people that have had accounts on here for years, but have barely posted.

mmm not really keen on that idea. Imagine how bad you would feel if after a the alotted amount of time you werent asked to join, blimey I would be heartbroken if it were me.

How many new members would stay if they found out that they couldn't join in all of it for a year? We'd stand to lose a lot of new people who are of value to NR, despite not being here a long time.

Not the best of ideas, in my opinion. :)

i dont think i would like that at all. it makes you think what would be next - a forum that only people with horses can join? I have found this nr forum at great help with my dream of eventually owning horse - so talking about horses is the next best thing"!!!:D

But what for? That's like saying you don't have anything of value to say until you've posted for a year, which just isn't true.

What exactly is the point of the forum?? Can't see any value at all in it myself.

Sorry I agree.
I can see why you think it may be a good idea, but personally the bad points outway the good points.

I joined here in January, and I'd hate it if I wasnt aloud a place in the forum just cos I havent been here as long. I dont see why those who have been here over a year need to be treated better than us newbies.

Ok, it sort of gives a 'VIP' section to it, but the feeling of being left out of someones thread just because I havent been here as long doesnt really make me feel so good about NR.

I know people who have been here over a year and have only just started learning about horses whereas me, a newbie, has been riding almost ten years. I dont see how my comments in a thread should not be noticed in a certain section as its not as if im inexperienced.

However, like you, I know other forums do do this.

The 'if people don't want you to come, you're not invited' part sounds like it could make a lot of members feel left our and unwanted..

I know, lets have a forum for people who have been here over FIVE years, have posted over 5000 posts and don't have anything but letters in their username... I think that's a fantastic Idea, It'd exclude almost everyone, including me, and would be very 'superior'.... then we could all post like mad, change our usernames and beg like crazy to be 'let in' to the club.....

I think maybe you've realised by now that I DON'T think the idea of an 'exclusive' section is a good one... simply because it excludes... and my understanding of NR is that it's INCLUSIVE... it doesn't matter how old you are, how long you've been a member, how long you've been riding or if you have a horse or even lessons, as long as you have an interest in horses and stick to the basic rules, you're welcome.:D

hmmm...i think it sounds like an odd idea!!! why would there be any need for a section where only certain people can post. It would just end up in arguments amoung members and a kind of semitism {i think thats the right word?}

Sorry, don't think me is liking the sound of this idea!!!!

I was on a board that had a members only section, meant for those people who had paid a subscription as it was becoming too expensive to keep the board free.

What happened was that the equivalent of the cafe area here became totally dead as all the posts by members that would have gone in there instead went in the members section. For those people who didn't know the members section existed, or didn't want to pay for whatever reason, the board became a very different place.

Danger is that NR would become NR without half of the posts being available to everyone, so anyone not being in the exclusive club would find there wasn't much going on and would be unlikely to stick around.

And that's aside of the issues already pointed out!
