View Full Version : The Hack That Wasn't....

Cherry has clearly been educating Indy in the ways of human manipulation....

Last night I kept the girls in... washed their legs off, gave them a good groom..... all in preparation for a special day. Cherry was to be ridden again after appox 6 weeks and Indy was to be ridden and led behind her by Dom... a joint walking hack of approximately 30mins. Girls were primped, spritzed, tacked up and off we set. "Hmmm.." thought I, "Chez feels a little stiff in her knees... perhaps she will loosen up...." Then comes a shout from behind.... Shanny was telling me that Indy is lame on her near fore.... cue cancelled hack.

Oh well... Chez was hooleying around in the new field yesterday so she may have overdone it and Indy probably had a go too... PLUS she did get ridden yesterday... so her poor muscles may be adjusting... there's always another time, eh?

Still, once again we got a couple of piccies...

This one makes me laff... Shanny will be 21 in July and she was struggling to tack up a "huge" 13hh pony....

This is NOT how the hack was planned, I hasten to add... Dom just gave me the leadrope so he could take the photo.... LOVE Cherry's raspberry... "Hee hee... I win... NO hack for me!!!"

"Dom!! HELP!! Chez has moved and Indy hasn't!!"

Chez realises she is home and dry.... and grins to prove it!!! "Nice act Indy... we don't have to work now.... thasss my gal!!!"

Back in the enclosed yard.... the shot I have been waiting to get since I bought Inds
last October....

(Just for the record, they really AREN'T tourniquets round Cherry's front legs.... her feathers make them look tight - perhaps THAT'S why she felt stiff? Lack of blood to her hooves??? :p )

Here endeth the gratuitous photos for THIS weekend.... ;)

Woweee yet again a lovely update Jane! :)

Lovely to hear things are going really well on the backing of Indy..! Such inspiration! Hope she isn't lame for too long!

Lovely pictures aswell, Shandy makes Indy look huge, which in turn makes Chez look huge :D *Giggle*

I love how relaxed Indy looks while she's being tacked up, resting her lehg like she's being doing it her whole life! :D

Fabulous pics Jane!

What a shame about the girlies' lameness though.

What do you think may have caused Indy's.

Poor old Cherry - having a bit of yee hah one day and suffers the next. Bit like myself, really.

Get well soon girlies!!

That Chez has lost non of her wit and sparkle through no being ridden.

.... nor any of her fat belly through being in a field with barely any grass.... :p

Dee - I genuinely think she has pulled something.... we are on clay here and the mud is very deep... I have seen her sink up to her knees in places near the gateway... they were moved to the field with more grass yesterday so have integrated with the geldings PLUS Indy has either come or been brought into season because of it... LOTS of tarting, squealing and winking today... and a bit of a grump with me this evening, so she was probably running about giving it a bit of "LOOK at me boys!!!" yesterday......

Wonderful pictures and lovely update as usual, Indy looks like she's been doing this 'human on my back' lark for ever, doesn't she?!

Sorry to hear they were both a bit on the 'three legged' side though, hope it's only minor stuff.

A bone to pick though I'm afraid.... correct me if I'm wrong, but in those last two pics it looks suspiciously to me like Shanny is sat on a 'just backed and very green' ponio WITH HER HELMET UNDONE:eek:

Slapped wrists and safety lecture all round when I get hold of you...!:p

She was obviously a horse in past life - as she seems to have that 'been there done that' kinda look doesn't she - that's great!

Love Love those feathers!!
