Lovely day, yesterday.:) Lots of sunshine and quite warm, so I decided to turn Sennie out without a rug on.:)

I turned out a smart bay section d, and this is what I got back.....

Looks like she had the most fantastic roll and back scratch - and loved the chance to do it too - good for you!

Mine are like that all the time... they don't wear rugs at all!!! :D Besides, at least you know how Sennie appreciated it.... he made the most of his nekkid time.....

But I do concede that it's a bit of a shock to the system when you're not used to it.... :p

Awww Sennie, and I thought I was brave to take Loki's neck cover off :D :D

Lovely to see them all muddy and happy though isn't it :)

Yes, a shock to the system is about right Jane.:D Not to mention time with a rubber curry comb and dandy brush. But he sure did enjoy himself.

Interesting, Portia and Kristina, that you both thought he was a girlie. Definitely not, but clearly the big eyed, trying to be cute act made you think so. That'll teach him. ;)

Mine fooled me, turned her out without a rug yesterday and she came in so clean that most people at the yard thought I'd taken her rug off as I caught her. Put her out again today without a rug and got a black horse coming back in (she's grey  ).

I have had the same thing all week. Then I bring him in and groom him for an hour to get all the knots and mud out and blow me he is filthy in the morning from his stable stains....

Oh dear...

Mine looks like that for 23 hours out of 24 (he lives out without a rug). I occasionally attempt grooming to keep on top of the mud (some hope) - yesterday I spent an hour doing top to bottom including mane and tail. As I finished, the old timer in the field started pawing at the ground, got down and had a fantastic roll. And yes, all the others, including the spotlessly clean one, followed suit.

At least he only did one side - so if I stood on the other side and squinted, he still looked clean :D

It's even worse now as the mud comes up past the knees/hocks too!!!

When they come in like this, my humour disappears for a time too....

Thanks folks... good to know I'm not alone in the mud monster from out of the deep phase.:D Aren't they just gorgeous? Just shows that however much we try to domesticate them there is a true undomesticated animal in there somewhere. And none of them give a toss.:D
