Tomorrow Roxy and I are going to a western clinic - this will be our third - to have a morning of training courses, followed by a training show in the afternoon!

We are entering the trail, pleasure, and novice rider western riding classes - could be fun!!!

Anybody have any tips???

This is our chance to have a go in a show situation without the pressure of a real show, although we will be placed as in a competition. Our first 'real' show is in May which doesn't seem far away!!!

Wish us luck (we'll probably need it!!!!)

:D

I hope you have good fun RoxyR.

I'm sorry I don't have any tips other than enyoy yourself:)

We are doing a dressage training week in April.......and at the end
we are having a competition.

Good luck

don't believe much in luck, but do think that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose but how you play the game. so go out sit tall and have fun 'cause thats what really matters:D :D :D

I'm sure you don't need luck to do well, just have fun and enjoy it! Hence the name Western Pleasure ! :D

We had a fantabulous time!!!

Roxy was really well behaved all day, even through lunchtime when she was fastened to the trailer with a haynet!
She was great in the trail class - we didn't get everything right, but she tried really hard! I was so pleased with her when she walked straight over the wooden bridge as if it wasn't even there!!
We had some hairy moments when a bird got trapped in the indoor school and kept flying into the skylights, poor thing, because then Roxy was a bit nervous at that end. Still, she got over it and on our second attempt at a pattern we didn't do too badly!
We were both tired at the end, and Roxy shamed herself slightly by not going in the trailer easily....again! But it was well worth it - I had some great tuition and a lot of encouragement from some great people - and Roxy seemed to enjoy watching the other horses too!

What a great day!!

Hopefully I've managed to attach a couple of pics!

I'd taken her bridle off for her to eat lunch, but this is still a nice pic!

She looks beautiful! Glad you had a good time; a bird flying into a skylight would scare any horse! :)
