.... confused? I shall explain....
*sigh* OK, I'm ashamed to admit it but my weight has crept up and up lately. Despite having two ponies I have still been eating more calories than I burn.... last straw was mounting Cherry yesterday and she... I can hardly bring myself to type it.... she did a little stagger as I sat in her saddle!!! :o :o
Now you all know Chez and her leg problems so having ignored the fat lump in the mirror for some months, my conscience has now pricked and I shall be rejoining a well known club which helped me to lose two stone, two years ago.... BUT... I have a long-standing booking for a weekend with a great friend planned and I can't ask her to cook me Green Day or Red Day food, so I am rejoining next week.... I promise... I'm all fired up to go again but I daren't cancel for fear of a visit from a man in black suit carrying a violin case!!!! Besides, a condemned man gets a decent last meal, doesn't he? :p
So.... might need some support from time to time if I struggle? Would that be ok peeps??? :)

Oh you sweetheart!! I don't know my target yet but probably 2.5 stone or 35lbs.... I threw my naff weigh scales away so will be relying solely on my weekly weigh-in... once I have been to my first class, a week tomorrow, I will know exactly.....
Thank you for your support already :)

I must admit, I have gained and so my total is down to only 1/2 stone and I got my 1/2 award today so pretty chuffed :D
All the support you could need here Jane..I think I need the support though - I'm a bit of a voddy fan atm ;) :o

Do you like the idea of hypnosis tapes? I have this CD (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lose-Weight-Now-Glenn-Harrold/dp/1901923258/sr=8-1/qid=1171917416/ref=sr_1_1/026-2033394-0634811?ie=UTF8&s=books) somewhere in my messy room. He teaches you to think healthily about food and not actually 'diet'. It's a nice excuse to relax for half an hour too. ;)

I am also starting the dreaded D today, as I got my stage 1 exam date through and slightly bent the truth on how much I weigh, by nearly a stone....... so have 5 weeks and 3 days to shift it:o
That's only a quarter of what I really need to lose though, but one step at a time eh!

Do you know what works wonders? Dancing like a complete FOOL to music of your desired choice. Works up a sweat and is GREAT fun too :D

Yup Jane, I am with you girl.
If I am going to be riding Molly then I need to lose a few pounds as she's very fine.
I'm to scared to get on the scales though......

Jane you are not the only one....I lost stacks of weight last Winter as I was stressed. Now the stress issue has resolved but my weight has stacked back on again...I dont like being the size I am and to be honest I only see it when I put my jodphurs on...:o I am not strong enough to sort it out yet as I want to stop smoking and they say only one change at a time. I want to wish you lots of luck and will support you whenever you feel the urge...;)

I can hardly bring myself to type it.... she did a little stagger as I sat in her saddle!!! :o :o
I've been there :o
Here's an incentive. I've been finding it harder and harder to mount from the ground -- not that I do it often, but sometimes you have to. Well, I have lost 11 pounds this year. Went into the school yesterday, no mounting block -- and I positively LEAPT into the saddle*.
I've just passed the half-way mark in my plan and I can't wait to be even lighter. Already I find myself bouncing up stairs more easily.
Go for it!
Oh and I call the whole thing off for special occasions too -- makes no difference as long as you go straight back on it the next day. :p
*Please note my pony is only 13.3 so this is not as impressive as it may sound.

Goodness Jane - I really don't think you need to lose 2.5 stone - you will turn into a bag of bones
Best of luck - and maybe pass on some tips for the rest of us podgy lot :D

Funny Sooty, I was thinking the same thing, but I haven't seen her for a while so was reserving judgement til I DO see her on Monday;)
Don't loose too much Jane... take it from me, it's just as much of a nightmare when your johds keep falling off:D
ETA... Ummm, Sue, 'the rest of us podgy lot'??? I hope you aren't including yourself in that... I seem to remember 'bean pole' springing to mind last time I saw you!

Ah yes HC - hoping to meet up for a pint at the pub .... as the trip to the Old Dairy Saddlery is likely to clear you out again (yes, I remember what happened last time ;) ) I will even buy you a drink :D
Jane - you'll have to start on Tuesday as I don't believe they sell slimline lager :p

Oh God.. me too Jane. I haven't had the "stagger" experience, but know, having gone up a dress size, I have a stone to shift, and Sennie would be much happier.
I am trying the hypnosis CD method, and have ordered mine as below.
http://www.vitalia-health.co.uk/testimonials/innertalktestimonials.htm
I am waiting for the CD to arrive, and would love to compare notes as to which way was most effective... and do a bit of mutual moral support. :D

Domane, I too have an on-going weight problem. I dont look fat but I always say that is because it is hidden. Like an alcoholic who doesnt drink any more?It is in the family so I always knew of the risk. And one of my daughters was obese but lost it with weight watchers.
I hope you wont mind my asking but did you or anyone else loose weight through a scheme and then put it on again? I keep looking at the scales and wondering what to do about the extra 7 lbs. If I go on a diet will it make things worse?
By the way, most schemes allow for the occasional larger meal on a social occasion - otherwise people would postpone all the time. There is always some occasion looming.
And if one is watching the scales, it helps to tell the hostess? When cvb came to stay we had no exercise at all because we were watching a clinic, but we catered carefully and my weight didnt change.
The only thing that has helped me lose weight since I started riding is being told i couldnt ride a particular TB pony if I was over nine and a half stone.
So I am sure that the motivation of doing what is right for Cherry is the best possible thing. Your post has motivated me too.

horses are just the best motivation aren't they. We treat them so much better if we are fit and not overweight....
I'll sponsor you too.. and need to get 12 pounds off too... got 6 months tho' before I ride again (mustn't wait until the last 6 weeks!!)

Me too... You are once again an inspiration Jane!
As the monthly healthy thread seems to have lost its thread a bit (sorry I just couldn't resist :o ) how about a Matures weight loss thread - with figures? I'm 66.6kg and would like to be 60 or less - that's roughly a stone I think. There's a gorgeous pinto pony at the stables that I would like to ride - I'm small enough but feel too heavy for her (tried bareback once) - so it is relevant!

You can do it missus!
I've started being good from yesterday as jods are v.v.v.v.v. tight and I have a dress to fit into for a wedding end of March.

But through the power of watching what we eat and http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/Whatanejit/Smilies/Exercise%20and%20weight/Horse_power.gif
Slowly but surely the pounds will drop off and we can wear our sleeveless tops come springtime!!http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/Whatanejit/Smilies/Exercise%20and%20weight/mgoodscales.gif

Soup. Lots of thick, nourishing, tummy filling soup. Soup is the answer to weight loss I've always found and it was confirmed on that BBC2 programme "the truth about food". Think how slowly soup filters through a strainer - it's the same in your tum.
Lots of support coming your way Domane. You can do it girl! :D

I'm trying to lose 3 stone, have lost 9lb in two weeks doing slimming world, I'm not going to ride Lady until I've lost at least a stone, it's a good insentive :) If you have the money buy a couple of the cook books off of ebay, they are really good and stop you getting bored too easily. I really struggle with weight loss and am very easily disheartened when I gain or don't lose anything... A weight loss thread would be great :D

this will be a real challenge to me
you've done so well-congratulations

I saw that Peanut! And it really is true. Any time I want to get a few pounds off I make myself homemade soups for lunch, stop drinking the wine for a month and it all drops off.
Though I have to admit that I always wait until the weather cheers up a bit as I find that makes things easier.
Teabiscuit, there are LOADS of yummy veggie soups that are easy to make (spicy pumpkin and carrot & coriander are my favs :) )
By the way, most schemes allow for the occasional larger meal on a social occasion
Skib - you must forgive me - when I first read this I thought you said LAGER meal :D :D Did make me laugh! I have been known to have the odd liquid lunch on occasion
