I am seriously thinking of buying my own clippers for next winter so I can clip Mr Hairy as often as need be. Any experiences on ease of use, durability, blade ease of maintenance, value for money, watch points for second hand much appreciated. Thanks

I have the Laube Lazor Shear cordless clippers, they are light and easy to use, the battery just pushes on and the blades are clip on - no messing about with tensioning. I sharpen baldes every few uses, but that depends a bit on how coarse the hair is and how much I am taking off, I guess I can do 2 full clips on really hairy monsters and trimming in between.
These guys managed to do a full clip on our old pony with cushings (lots of hair) on one battery too. I also use them for all trimming etc they are super quiet, you hardly know they are on - when my vet used them he didn't realise they were on when I handed them to him, he was very impressed and will normally ask to use mine rather than his own now :D

Discussing this with Esther.D today.

I bought a set of Lister laser 12v clippers with a sheep shearing head on them. I do not remember paying the £325 (or thereabouts) that Rideaway have them advertised at, I just don't. I get my stuff from W&M Horner, near Clitheroe, Lancs. I have a feeling if you bought them from the sheepy shearers and got the horse/cattle head on them, as I have just done, you'd pay less.

I have lister supreme 240v and the laser 12v. Like them both. The Lasers are a bit lighter.
