Does anybody have any tips or advice on sponsored rides please? My other half and I are planning to do the East Kent Ride next weekend - the first one we have ever done! We have borrowed a very old horse who has 'seen it, done it and got the t-shirt' to hopefully keep our young mare calm. We will not be wanting to go very fast nor do any jumping but any advice on what to take etc will be helpful. :)

Sounds great!
How far is it? I'd just take warm clothing etc.
I knw this is very unlikly, but does anyone know of sponsered rides where you don't need your own horse???

They are a great way of introducing X country fences to a young horse without the stress of worrying about time and penalties oh and also great fun!
No earth shattering tips except to remember it's fun and to let your horse really take her time.
You shouldn't need any special equipment - take a head collar & lead rope, I would put boots on your mare as these fences are going to be solid and knocks easily happen.
Back protector for you is a must have!
When I took my last youngster to her first I expected to do the 12 miles and maybe pop over a few inviting fences...well, she did 3/4 of the jumps - ditches , banks, drop steps the works and absolutely loved every minute....I'm sure you will too!
