Calendula is a great for wounds, you can get it in lots of different forms but I like the greasy type one, you can slap it on and it kind of acts as a barrier to any nasties and helps loads with healing.
Calendula is well-known as a vulnerary, i.e. to be applied externally, especially for lacerated wounds with loss of tissue, in suppurating wounds and ulcers, in fractures, especially if compound and if repair is slow, and for consequences of a blow, shock or fall.
If your worried about it there are homeopathic vets out there, who you can call for advise on which remedies to use :p bahvs (http://www.bahvs.com/)

Intrasite is great, tbh I would stick with that :p I think arnica is the best thing, maybe sulphur.

Tea Tree is another good remedy, it's a natural antiseptic and disinfectant that helps the healing process. :)

india i used tea tree and lavender 50/50 mix, neat, as a rub for about 4 days after the injury and it did a very good job of fighting infection as his knee shows no sign of infection.
i obviously didn't use it neat on the flesh wound, just on the whole of the surrounding area, i think some of it would have seeped into the cream i put on the wound at the time (i used preperation H, any one else used it for flesh wounds?)
you're right, it is an excellent germ fighter
