He looks like he needs to be free-lunged over jumps as he has his shoulder majorly dropped in a lot of the newer pics. Also you should put a ground pole before each jump so he can time it.

As you may have noticed them pictures were taken last summer it is now spring this year so he has has plenty of schooling throughout the winter. So i don't need a lecture about his flatwor thanks

Thankyou for your advice i am going to make sure that i do some free-lunging over some smaller jumps when my ground is a bit better thanks
Also i will add a placing pole before the jumps like i did have to start with :)

Lovely horse, and what a great improvement! Looks like you've come on in leaps and bounds - you've got a good showjumper there! Your position looks alot better as well, your leg position is better in the second set of pictures. I cant think of much criticism :).

ps. I love the way he snaps his legs right up over the jumps, and they're huge as well! :p.

His schoolwork looks abit neglected. That was a tad unecessary....

To the OP...well done on your progress with the horse. I hope 2007 brings a fruitful year both jumping and on the flat :)

if you dont want critique feel free to ignore :)
You :-
Your toes turn out instead of pointing forwards (some work on the flat in jumping position will help - concentrating on where your body is not a jump)
In a few you are looking down instead of forwards
You dont seem to be releasing very much over the fences which doesnt help the horse to strech down over the fence and be smoother.

The horse :-
Drops his shoulder a little, gridwork will help that. Lungeing/free schooling over grids, bounces, spreads etc will help that no end and then obv you can start riding him over them. id let him do i alone first to find his feet.

Nice horse.

Your welcome, I only know that because my horse had that problem, after a couple weeks of free jumping he was snapping his legs tight!
Here's the difference on my green horse, this is what free lunging can do.

Shoulder dropped:
