Hi!

Tiffany is a 15.2 beligian warmboold mare. i originally bought her for showjumping but she gets too stressed and doesn't have enough bounce in her - she prefers a classy elegant jump than a fast jump off!! so i did a showing show on her to get her out and more comfortable in a show environment. eventually she settled and improved her placings throughout the day. it was decided that since SJ was "my thing" i would sell her and hence i now have jerry. Tiffany didnt sell however and is currently on loan. i've now decided not to sell (dont tell the rentals;) ) and i think i would like to do some more showing with her.

i have a few questions:

will it be too much to take jerry SJ and show tiffany? or are the shows mainly seperate?
where do i find showing show listings?and how do i know the "good ones" to go to?

lwhat classes do you think i could enter?

and lastly, does she have potential??(i honestly won't be offended - i think:p - as the OH wants her!)

- these pics are the best of a bad bunch taken at the show mentioned. the classes were tack and turnout, riding horse and riding club horse - please also note that i hadnt had a riding lesson in 2years so we hadnt had any professional training, hence my dodgy position:D

I would get some dressage lessons with her to get your position right and get her more supple then decide from there really.

She looks lovely and I know lots of peeps who take multiple horses to show and compete them and many showing shows have jumping afterwards to pull in the jumpers and make more money.

Hey, i have been showing for around 10 years, and for around 3 of them with multiple ponies. I have never been into SJ so i dont know whether or not the classes would clash but you could just look at the shedules for that.

In the ridden photo, your position doesnt look that bad, your shoulders are quite rounded/ forward. If you straighten your back and push your shoulders back also this will improve the4 overall position, also try to lift you hands slightly as you seem to have them quite low.

A Few of my friends who are SJ'ers find that their position is often criticised in showing classes, this is because you are judged as well as your pony/horse! I would just have a few flat work lessons with a good teacher, not necesseraily dressage lessons just some good flatwork ones, which will help with your position aswell as you horses general way of going.

As for the shows and the potential factor, EVERY HORSE HAS POTENTIAL!!!!
It just depends on how well you can spruce them up and their way of going. I would say the best classes for you to do would be Ridden Show Hunter or a ridden hunter class, riding club horse, ridden horse. Personally i would go for the ridden hunter classes combined with working hunter, this means it would suit the both of you as if your mare likes to jump more elegantly and at a nice pace and you just like to jump, this is what is required in the working hunter, a nice paced clear jumping round followed by a ridden show and a go around with the rest of the class.

If you have any more questions you are welcome to ask.
