I have a new warmblood mare that I cannot get to take worming paste. She is the worst head tosser around. What I would like to know is if it is OK to put the paste into her food. She will take it this way but I have not been able to find out if it will be effective by mixing with her feed.

Perfectly fine to administer it that way, I have to do that with one of mine;)

I had to put one of mine in a piece of bread... I digged a whole in it, filling the middle and feed it to her... then right away a piece of apple... to distract her from the funny flavour... :)

you're lucky to have the option :) -mine turn up their noses at anything out of the ordinary in their feed
they must think i'm trying to poison 'em hehe
it all gets mixed up in their tummies anyway :D
i don't remember having to give a wormer that you needed to give on an empty stomach for donkeys years

Thanks heaps for the replies guys. That has put my mind at rest. I am lucky that my mare will eat anything and takes the wormer this way. I am going to try putting apple sauce in a syringe and over time get her to like the idea of this as a treat and then pop in wormer paste after she will let me put it into her mouth. I will let you know if I am successful.
