No I don't mind you asking at all, I go to Rheidol riding and trekking centre. You can google it as they have a website. They are very good, although they do have quite a few trainee RIs who are a bit funny with some of the methods they use to teach (they seem to be used to teaching children alot more then adults) but its fine most of the time. I am in love with Merlin, the pony I ride, he's 13.2hh welsh something or other lol! He's 28 years old and a bit of a 'victor meldrew' pony, but I love him anyways! I am the only 'customer' to ride him as far as I know! :p :D You are welcome to PM me if you like. :D

I kitted myself out after my first lesson :D
Bought jods, jod boots, chaps, hat and some gloves
The only thing I have bought since is new riding boots as I found long riding boots more comfortable and a lot warmer for when I go out hacking (i've got a pair of muckboots)

Hope your lessons goes ok, keep us updated ;)

no i don't think so. i took my time in getting my gear. i war the wrong boots for ages. until my new RI told me to get propper riding boots. i had my helmet by that point. i got a pair of jodpers a couple of weeks ago. (was very nervous about getting them) lol. but now i wished i had got them from the start. so i recon u did the right thing :D.

I had more or less kitted myself out before i had my first lesson. I had jods, jos boots. I borrowed a whip and hat off the school. My third lesson i had bought some chaps which are great. i bought myself a hat and crop. by my 7th lesson (around christmas) my parents bought me a really good hat.

I havent even got a horsey yet but have bought a grooming kit and a numah!!!:D

I dont think it was rushed at all. When i started riding after a few years gap, i fully kitted myself out before the first lesson, but i did know i was deffinately going to like it.

I bet you feel better riding in all your new stuff. When my freinds had thier first lessons, they borrowed my stuff and they said they felt so much more confident because they felt dressed for the part!

I kitted myself out before my first lesson although most of it was second hand - only because of the money though. I have been riding about 5 years now and have 3 pairs of jods, 2 pairs of boots (one long/one short), 2 whips, 3 hats, about 5 leads ropes and a grooming kit. Still no horse though. I think it makes it easier to learn if your riding the right gear and you can always sell on e-bay if you decide its not for you - not that you will its totally addictive!!!

I had some really comfy stretchy close fitting old jeans and some boots with a small heel and square toe for my first lessons, I borrowed a riding school hat. After about the 3rd one I bought some jod boots from their tack shop and ordered a hat (after having my rather huge head measured!!!) and bought jods too - then I felt like a "real" rider....ah, happy memories........
