hi ive done my 3rd ever lesson today and rode a new horse. i lernt more of rising trott and trotting with out stirups which found very easy more than riding with stirups. i got av bit scared wen the RI told me "when you turn right kick with ** left foot and when you turn left kick with your right foot other wise the horse could land on you". anyway i got a group lesson on sunday if you want i will keep u in the circule about it.

sounds like you enjoyed it - well done. Another lesson Sunday wow two in one week I wish. I keep having to do trot without stirrups I do find it quite hard but I think I'm getting better slowly. I even did canter without stirrups once which was fantastic. What was she saying to do with your legs when you turn right right leg on the girth and left slightly behind and vice versa - didn't think it had anything to do with balance. Its asking the horse to bend round your inside leg.

Well done with your lesson! You must have natural balance to prefer trotting without stirrups as I bounce all over the place, and don't even mention 20m circles w/o stirrups! *shudders*
have you cantered yet? wait till you try that w/o stirrups, you'll love it! even i like it! :D

She probably said "fall in" on you. A different thing completely to actually landing on you. :) :D

Good luck with the lessons.

Its when they drop thier shoulder to the inside, and thier hindquarters drop to the outside (when turning) It basically means a less controlled sloppy turn, and its harder work for the horse. So you should support them with your legs. :D

I haven't done that much hacking but when I have I've always ended up really hot. Last time I think I wore just a t-shirt and a water-proof jacket. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas?

Ooops posted that in the wrong place - no wonder I couldn't find it!!!
