I am thinking about getting a saddle with an adjustable gullet but I just wondered if the are leather or synthetic and if anyone has one any reccommended brands??
Needs to be able to change from narrow to medium.
As for the price, probably upto £150 would go upto £200.
Or would by secondhand in VGC.

Hiya i have a wintec 500 gp saddle which has the attachable velcro knee pads for jumping. The saddle is synthetic easy to keep clean looks great never slips (which i was concerned about!) and is light to carry around. I have the cair system but ive also had the flocked version and would recommend them both. I paid £125 for my first flocked wintec gp 500 and 150 for my cair wintec 500 gp both were in very good condition not a mark in sight and i got both of them of ebay. Also the gullets come in a range of sizes narrow, narrow-med, meduim, med-wide, wide and extra wide and are very easy to change, just need a screwdriver. the meduim gullet which i think you was after is the black gullet, i have a spare one of these if you cant find the saddle you want with one included. just pm if you would like it
Hope this helps.

I have the same sort of Wintec and can thoroughly recommend it too.

On my previous horse I had a Thorowgood GP Deep seat and that was great too. To change the width on these is even easier than on the Wintec as they have these wedges ( called fish) that fit into pockets under the saddle flap that are really easy to change. It allows you to change the width by three settings, e.g. you buy the wide saddle and it comes with fish to change it to wide/med and medium. The saddle is synthetic leather with a suede effect seat which is very comfy and keeps you in the saddle !

The only reason I changed to a Wintec was cos the Thorowgood was too long for my new horse.

The Wintec has slightly flatter panels than the Thoro' so you might find one fits your horse better than the other depending on the shape of their back.

I have an 18" black wide Thor' for sale.......!!:)

Don't forget though it's only the pommel width that's adjustable, not the whole tree! If the tree's the wrong shape or the gullet too narrow you'll have problems. Best to buy a saddle that actually fits your horse rather than going for something cheap and "adjustable".

i have the wintec 2000 which was just what fitted my horse best. Its a really nice saddle and the velcro knee rolls are good for jumping and forward seat (but then im used to a saddle with practically no kneerolls so any feel great). puts me in a good postition too.

I had an adjustable wintec and it didn't fit my pony at all, he had the XW gullet in and it bridged on his back and the cantle end would pop up off his back in trot

I had the wintec 500 flocked which was so badly overstuffed and lumpy that I couldn't stand to have Joy in it anymore so I bought a wintec VSD (I don't do much in the way of jumping) in the cair.

The wintec suited her shape and mine so I bought secong hand off ebay and went and collected from the owner so I knew it was ok in condition and fit.

Just to reiterate that on the wintecs only the bit by the pommel that is adjustable and not the whole tree.

Have just purchased a Wintec 500 for Lily as the gullet is wider all the way down than my Barnsby and Lily is quite wide through the spine :)
